About the Role:

Our client, a well-known architectural practice based in Canterbury, is on the lookout for a Senior Conservation Architect to join their team of heritage enthusiasts. With a solid reputation built over many many years, this is a team that’s been trusted to care for everything from grand estates and charming old residences to timeless places of worship. And now, due to success of the business they are looking to grow the team and bring in new talent.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Taking the reins in guiding and mentoring a talented team of conservation experts

  • Crafting detailed project plans, drawings, and historical reports

  • Leading client meetings, bringing your expertise to the table

  • Sharing your knowledge of historic architecture, making you the go-to person for advice

  • Navigating the planning process and providing insights on pre-application and planning matters

  • Collaborating with contractors, stakeholders, and specialists to bring restoration projects to life

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in the UK conservation and heritage sector

  • Proven experience in leading technical teams and collaborating across disciplines

  • An eye for detail when it comes to historic design, plus a sound grasp of contracts

  • Solid experience in writing historical reports and a strong technical background

  • A track record of working on listed building restoration projects

  • Desirable: CA/SCA RIBA, AABC, or equivalent, and /or membership with IHBC

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Photoshop

  • Familiarity with the planning process, as well as relevant heritage and environmental laws
