Are you an experienced Management Accountant looking to make an impact in the third sector? This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established third sector organisation in Cardiff as part of a collaborative and talented finance team. While the finance business partners focus on implementing a new finance system across the charity and its subsidiary, you will take ownership of the day-to-day management accounting, including budgeting, P&L, cash flow, and variance analysis.
Strong communication skills are key, as you’ll be liaising with budget holders to help drive financial performance and support strategic objectives.
This role is initially a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension due to the scope of work and planned long-term projects.
The Job
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and financial commentary.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Uphold strong financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies.
Assist the Finance Business Partners with:
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Supporting Office for National Statistics (ONS) reporting requirements.
- Working closely with budget holders and stakeholders, offering financial insights to support informed decision-making.
- Preparing documentation and assisting in the year-end external audit.
- Compiling information for grant and funding reports, ensuring compliance with financial conditions set by funders.
- Supporting cash flow forecasting and treasury management to maintain financial stability.
Person Specification
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in management accounting.
- Strong technical skills in financial reporting, VAT returns, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and adapt quickly.
Salary & Benefits
- £40,000 per annum
- 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential for extension
