Senior Accountant required

Fixed Term Contract for 3 months with potential extension

North Cardiff area

Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be partnering with an innovative organisation based in North Cardiff who is seeking a Qualified Accountant to join its small finance team on a short term 3-month contract basis, with potential further extension. My client is able to pay a salary of up to £48,000 per annum for the successful candidate.

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting entries, all month-end tasks and be able to perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations, whilst investigating accounting irregularities, mistakes or potential fraud. The Senior Accountant will also be accountable for the good stewardship of the finance function of the UK entity and will share responsibilities at group level. 

Main duties and responsibilities will include -

  • Maintenance of the shared mailbox emails.
  • Maintenance of the day-to-day transactional accounting for the business, including but not limited to AP, AR, fixed assets, provisions, and accruals.
  • Responsible for raising and tracking purchase orders.
  • Assist in the delivery of group financial accounting including monthly reporting, monthly forecasting, budget preparation, VAT returns, and sales reporting.
  • Assist with all audit requests.
  • Manage staff expenses and advances.
  • Maintain key registers covering company assets and regular payments.
  • Robust and thorough balance sheet reconciliations performed on a quarterly basis.
  • To be able to optimise existing reporting / schedules. Be able to also create models from scratch.
  • Treasury management: International transfer, bank reconciliations, daily update of actual cash flow, variance analyses and ensuring that all subsidiaries have enough cash to pay their due in time.
  • Intercompany group reconciliations and postings.

Skills, Competencies and Experience required for the role -

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with both accounting and auditing. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience with working with both small and large foreign companies would be an advantage.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (SUMIFS – VLOOKUP a must).
  • Experience in working with Xero / Odoo would be an advantage.

  • Ability to be flexible and multitask.
  • Able to work under pressure with tight timelines.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday 9 – 5, with some flexibility on start and finish times.

The client operates a hybrid working model with 2 days per week working the office, although more days on site may be required in the early weeks of the role.

Interviews for this opportunity are due to take place before Christmas with a view to starting on 6 th January 2025.
