Job Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Hostel Cleansing Operative to provide high-quality cleaning services in flats and communal areas within hostels across the city. Our hostels accommodate vulnerable families and single individuals with complex needs, and your role will be essential in ensuring a clean and safe living environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality cleaning services and take responsibility for specific tasks in communal areas and residential flats within hostels.
  • Adhere to all cleaning procedures and support the council’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments to maintain a healthy and safe working environment for both employees and the public.
  • Identify repairs and report on the condition of flats and communal areas.
  • Liaise daily with building staff and the Hostel Supervisor, addressing operational issues, including anti-social behavior and tenancy matters.
  • Provide clear written reports to assist management with corporate complaints and performance reviews.
  • Strive for customer satisfaction by enhancing service quality and meeting service level agreements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and other service areas via telephone or in person.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, tailoring approaches to their needs.
  • Commitment to high-quality customer service and equality issues.
  • A positive attitude towards challenges and adaptability to change.

Desirable Requirements:

  • A relevant professional qualification in cleaning.
  • Experience working within a domestic or commercial cleaning environment, with customer interaction, and using industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Full UK Driving License is desirable.
  • Ability to get to the site you are working in.
