Specialist Liability Case Handler, Cardiff, Hybrid

Our client, a bespoke growing company who specialise in personal injury claims, is seeking an experience Case Handler, to join their Specialist Liability team.

The Specialist Liability Team

The Specialist Liability Team addresses a wide range of accident types, including Road Traffic accidents, Employer's Liability, Public Liability, Occupier's Liability, Animal Act Claims, and claims involving vulnerable road users.

You will managing your own caseload and your portfolio will include a mix of cases with both admitted and denied liability, some of which could hold significant value. You will oversee the files from the initial client call all the way through to settlement. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to file Part 7 claims, as this team has the capacity to litigate their own cases.

Responsibilities

  • You will be tasked with investigating liability, providing exceptional client care, and ensuring that every aspect of the client's injuries and losses is thoroughly maximised.
  • Your primary focus will be to act in the best interest of your clients, proactively advancing cases towards positive outcomes.
  • The injuries you will handle may vary from general orthopaedic injuries to more complex investigations, often involving reports from multiple medical experts.
  • Investigations into financial losses may require specialised and detailed advice, covering areas such as loss of earnings for both employed and self-employed individuals, as well as ongoing treatment and care needs.
  • If you have not dealt with these types of losses before, there is no need for concern as comprehensive training and managerial support will be provided.

You will have the chance to collaborate closely with other teams, frequently engaging in the investigation and development of claims aimed at achieving substantial settlements (i.e., over £25,000). This role offers you the opportunity for professional growth and development through strong connections with solicitors, allowing you to benefit from their mentorship and buddying programs.

Your Experience

  • Previous Case Handling experience of running a Personal Injury claim and being able to review medical reports and value claims using JC Guidelines and case law is essential.
  • Exceptional client care skills.
  • Experience of Part 7 litigation is desirable, albeit not essential, as training can be given.
  • Experience in handing EL/PL claims would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.

Additional Information

You will be based in Cardiff City Centre, working core hours of 37.5 per week (part time applications may apply).?Your weeks will be split both at home and in the office. For any new starters there is a requirement of up to 3 months in office training. You will be provided with achievable targets (to include settlement and billing).

Benefits

All colleagues will receive 33 days holiday (including banks holidays) when they join them, and this will increase with length of service, up to a maximum of 38 days (including banks holidays). You also have the option to buy or sell up to five days of annual leave in addition to your allocation.
