Are you an experienced Structural Engineer who is looking for the next big step in your career?We are assisting a respected and established civil and structural engineering consultancy, based in the Cardiff area, in their search for a Structural Engineer to lead their structural division. This independent business has a fantastic reputation and a talented dedicated team. This position would suit someone who is looking for a role as an Associate or Associate Director and as such, would be a great fit for a senior or principal looking for the next step or someone already established in senior management.Projects tend to be varied and based both locally and nationally. They include:
  • WRU training facilities
  • High end bespoke residential up to £4m
  • Multi-storey accommodation
  • Industrial
  • Housing
  • Heritage
  • Unique underground facilities
You can expect to be working in all traditional materials. This person will be leading a good-sized team of engineers and technicians so the following skill set is key for a successful candidate:
  • Outgoing personality and excellent communication skills
  • Good people skills, someone who enjoys building and maintaining relationships
  • Willingness to represent the business at industry events
  • Commerically astute with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working on a variety of buildings and materials
  • Business development experience is not essential, however someone looking to broaden their portfolio of industry contacts would be desirable
We are looking for someone who very much wants to take ownership of this department, not only taking charge of the team and their out put of high quality work, but also helping with it’s growth and recruitment. Other responsibilities include;
  • Managing client relationships as the point of contact
  • Developing junior members of staff
  • Chairing design team meetings
  • Site visits
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors and architects
  • Keeping a track on profitability and timescales
This role comes with an attractive benefits package and a salary in the region of £70,000 depending on your level of experience. The consultancy is based in a convenient location with onsite parking and the role comes with flexible working hours. Other benefits include;
