- Designing both temporary and permanent geotechnical structures
- Creating designs for structural and civil schemes as well as giving input into schemes from other disciplines, ensuring these are reviewed and checked
- Undertaking extensive surveys and inspections of geotechnical structures
- Preparing reports based off of the findings from these investigations
- Ensuring feasibility is understood
- Working on project programmes as needed
- Supervising and, where needed, training junior members of the team
