An excellent opportunity for a Communications and Campaigns Manager has arisen leading external affairs, public relations, and communications, ensuring FOR Cardiff remains a strong, influential voice in the city and beyond.
Overview
This pivotal role will shape FOR Cardiff's communications strategy, ensuring they deliver high-impact campaigns, and that relationships with key stakeholders across Wales are managed effectively.
Through innovative marketing campaigns, and reactive and proactive communications, you will showcase Cardiff to businesses, policymakers, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & External Affairs
- Develop and implement a communications and external affairs strategy with the Associate Director to enhance FOR Cardiff’s influence.
- Monitor the Welsh political and business landscapes, identifying opportunities to represent the interests of Cardiff’s business community.
- Support the Leadership Team in building and maintaining strong relationships with government bodies, local authorities, industry groups, and media outlets.
- Prepare briefings, key messages, and press materials for the Executive Director and senior team to effectively communicate with the press and key stakeholders.
Public Relations & Reactive Communications
- Lead FOR Cardiff’s PR strategy, ensuring consistent messaging and positive media coverage.
- Manage reactive communications, responding effectively to emerging issues and media queries.
- Develop crisis communications plans and provide guidance on reputational risk management.
- Draft press releases, opinion pieces, and thought leadership articles.
Marketing & Campaigns
- Plan and deliver innovative marketing campaigns that support FOR Cardiff’s objectives, driving engagement from businesses and the public.
- Lead on campaign development, from concept to execution, across multiple channels (digital, print, social media, events).
- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to create compelling content that enhances FOR Cardiff’s brand.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, using data-driven insights to optimise future activity.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in external affairs, public relations, and communications at a senior level.
- Track record of delivering successful marketing campaigns that drive awareness and engagement.
- Experience in reactive communications, including handling media relations and crisis management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to build influential relationships.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Hybrid role with 3 days a week in the office
