We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to support the management of key contracts within a significant portfolio of onshore Energy Parks. This role is crucial as we prepare for the first of these projects to reach the construction phase.

The Contracts Manager will provide expert support leading up to the construction phase, including developing contracting strategies, tendering, and negotiating contracts. During the construction phase, you will support the on-site delivery team, ensuring that major works contracts such as the TSA and EBoP contracts are correctly administered and managed. You will also handle payment matters and any commercial issues that may arise.

This role requires close collaboration with our internal legal team, appointed consultancies, and the wider project and engineering teams. Travel to our Cardiff and Edinburgh offices, as well as supply chain and project sites in Wales, will be required occasionally.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide construction phase contract management input to the development of contracting and procurement strategies and associated documentation.
  • Support project teams during the pre-construction phase and prepare for contract management during construction.
  • Work closely with project and legal teams to ensure contracts support effective and efficient project delivery, maximizing value and mitigating risks.
  • Negotiate contracts, prioritizing value while maintaining long-term beneficial relationships with the supply chain.
  • Act as the first point of contact on-site for managing contractual and commercial matters, focusing on dispute avoidance and mitigation.
  • Lead any claims and contractual negotiation disputes on-site.
  • Develop summary and performance reports and metrics for various levels within the organization, up to Board level.
  • Provide expert cost estimation and delay analysis to assess any claims.

What We Look For

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Expertise in the application of NEC and FIDIC contract forms with a strong working knowledge of contract law.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to maintain efficiency under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong professional relationships across the business and with contractual counterparties.
  • Good understanding and observance of professional ethics, including confidentiality and conflicts of interest.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related discipline with a commercial background. Ideally, an MCIPS or RICS qualification.
  • On-site construction delivery experience on onshore windfarm projects.
  • Proven track record in similar roles, ideally in the renewable energy sector.
  • Experience in both pre-construction and construction phases of major projects.
  • Passion for renewables and a desire to join a market disruptor driving towards net zero.
