Trainee Assessor in Health and Social Care

Location: Cardiff (On-Site)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: 23,920 - 24,960
Reporting to: Managing Internal Quality Assurer

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Assessor to support the delivery of high-quality training programs, helping learners achieve positive outcomes and contributing to the company's overall performance and continuous improvement. This role involves assessing and supporting learners in the workplace, ensuring compliance with awarding body requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with employers.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure internal verification (IV) systems are performed and maintained in line with the code of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with awarding body requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion and accuracy of all trainee documentation.
  • Ensure positive learner outcomes are evidenced and recorded.

Training and Assessing

  • Deliver training programs to assigned learners/clients to the highest standards.
  • Travel to workplaces to assess learners and provide support.
  • Develop individual learning plans (ILPs) and map out learning routes.
  • Reference and mark workplace evidence for key skill requirements.
  • Maintain learner attendance records and guided contact hours for audit compliance.
  • Plan, monitor, and achieve performance targets.
  • Arrange and facilitate in-house training and day-release training as required.
  • Develop course materials to support learning objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance course delivery.
  • Facilitate assessments and tests in accordance with awarding body requirements.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with employers and identify business opportunities.
  • Comply with company policies related to lone working, safe driving, and mileage claims.
  • Adhere to Work-Based Learning Professional Standards, Education Workforce Code of Practice, and company Code of Conduct.

General Responsibilities

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Occupational experience in a relevant delivery route.
  • Willingness to work towards an Assessor Award (CAVA).
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and Prevent.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering within the required area of training.
  • Experience in delivering apprenticeship qualifications.
  • Work-Based Learning experience.
  • Knowledge of awarding body practices.
  • Qualified or willingness to work towards:
    • CAVA Qualification or equivalent
    • ESW Communication Level 2
    • ESW Application of Number Level 2
    • TAQA Qualification or equivalent
    • City & Guilds 9300 Level 2 in Supporting Adults and Young People in Essential Skills
  • Fluency in Welsh (written and spoken).
