We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our unique primary school, which caters to children with Additional Learning Needs. Our school is trauma-informed, focusing on pupils who come from challenging backgrounds. With current facilities for 40 pupils and expansion plans underway to accommodate up to 70, we offer a nurturing and innovative environment where education and play intertwine to foster positive experiences and prepare our pupils for future educational transitions.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Engage in hands-on play and educational activities that cater to individual learning needs and promote emotional well-being.
  • Support the creation and delivery of tailored educational materials and experiences that stimulate and engage children.
  • Work closely with a team of educators and therapists to implement strategies that reduce stress and enhance learning.
  • Assist in monitoring and recording pupilsā€™ progress, adapting approaches as needed to suit individual learning pathways.
  • Participate actively in outdoor and indoor play, helping to create a safe and supportive environment for all children.
  • Employ de-escalation skills and empathetic communication to manage challenging behaviors effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and collected in a dynamic educational setting.
  • Strong hands-on support skills with a caring and empathetic approach to student interaction.
  • Experience in using de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Passion for working with children with additional learning needs.
  • Ability to think creatively and outside the box to meet the needs of each child.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child care (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is preferred).
