We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, working with a Year 8 class in a Cardiff school. This role is particularly focused on supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who have low reading ages. The position requires a compassionate individual who is committed to helping students achieve their full potential.
Day-to-day of the role:- Assist in the delivery of tailored educational activities designed for Year 8 students with low reading ages.
- Support the lead teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) for SEN students.
- Engage with students one-on-one or in small groups to enhance their learning and comprehension.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that caters to the needs of SEN students.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and classroom setup.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with low reading ages.
- Ability to work empathetically and effectively with young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child care are preferred.
