Qualifications and Skills

  • Recognised trade qualifications at City & Guilds standards or higher.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical generator components.
  • Supervisory experience with excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with UK health and safety legislation, including risk assessments and environmental practices.

Desirable:

  • Experience in remote or challenging environments.
  • Product knowledge of Caterpillar, FG Wilson, Perkins generators, and Woodward control systems.
  • Proficiency in load bank testing and engine diagnostic tools (e.g., Perkins EST, CAT ET).
  • Electrical qualification aligned with 18th Edition IEE regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and servicing of generators within agreed timeframes.
  • Conduct planned and reactive repairs on generators and fuel systems.
  • Promote and ensure high mechanical hygiene standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safe work systems.
  • Manage material orders and deliver toolbox talks and task-specific instructions.
