Job Title: Head of Finance

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000

Location: Cardiff area

Working Arrangement: Onsite working with some flexibility when required.

My client is a South Wales based company specialising in engineering projects delivering large-scale frameworks and infrastructure schemes across the UK. They have a proven track record across multiple sectors and are a subsidiary of a wider group. This is an exciting time to join the business following the success of securing several long-term contract wins.

About the Role:

This is a dynamic opportunity to lead and inspire the finance department while contributing to the company's success. You'll work closely with other departments and the board to ensure efficient financial processes and reporting, all while playing a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's drive towards net zero.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function
  • Ensure timely reporting of all financial data
  • Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders within the business
  • Maintain internal controls and compliance with group requirements
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and board reports
  • Manage credit control, cash forecasting, and overhead reporting
  • Support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and audits
  • Oversee payroll, purchase ledger, and subcontract ledger functions
  • Manage the internal audit process

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
  • Sector specific experience within engineering/construction is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to lead, train, and support a high-achieving team
  • Excellent skills in accounting software and excel
  • Independent decision-making capabilities and clear communication of financial data and procedures.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accounting procedures
