Interim Head of Finance | NHS | Band 8c

Cardiff | NHS finance experience essential

My client is seeking a Qualified Finance professional with NHS finance experience and significant experience at a senior management level with specialist expertise and experience of the NHS commissioning processes and systems.

The job purpose is to lead the UHB in managing UHB provider activity and agreements and the financial commissioning aspects of resident activity for the region. This relates to the Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC), LHBs and non-Welsh commissioners. This includes Long Term Agreements (LTAs), high-cost exclusions and non-contracted activity. The role will provide assistance and leadership where necessary in the negotiation and management of the Health Care Agreements for the provision and commissioning of specialist services to/from (JCC) and other Health Boards. The post holder will ensure systems are in place to monitor activity and financial performance - flagging trends and developments that may impact on the UHBs financial forecast position.

Skills, experience:

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Extensive NHS finance experience
  • Specialist expertise in NHS commissioning finance
  • In depth knowledge of NHS financial and accounting procedures
  • Proven track record of dealing with highly complicated situations and the delivery of challenging corporate objectives
