Are you a talented Archivist looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills? Our client, a government organisation, is seeking a dedicated Archivist to join their team on a temporary basis until 31st March 2025.

As the Archivist, you will play a critical role in supporting the review and transfer of records from three legacy commissions. Your main responsibilities will include conducting detailed appraisals, cataloguing records, and preparing them for transfer or disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed appraisals to determine historical value and suitability for transfer.
  • Catalogue records accurately and comprehensively.
  • Prepare records for transfer, ensuring adherence to archival standards.
  • Collaborate with the Records Manager for seamless integration of records.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and prepare necessary paperwork.
  • Assist in physical and digital record transfers.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Archivist with a recognised postgraduate qualification in archives and records management.
  • Proven experience in appraising, cataloguing, and preparing records for transfer or disposal.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in archival software and digital tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information:

  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check required.
  • Hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.
  • Completion of the project by 31st March 2025.
