Are you a skilled financial modeller with a passion for sales performance optimisation? We're looking for an experienced Financial Modeller to join a dynamic team on a contract basis. In this pivotal role, you will develop and maintain financial models, perform detailed analysis, and support strategic decision-making to drive business growth and profitability.
As a Financial Modeller, you will play a key role in helping us understand financial trends, forecast sales, manage budgets. You will collaborate closely with senior management and the sales team to provide actionable insights, while also ensuring data accuracy and integrity across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modelling:
- Develop, improve, and maintain financial models to forecast sales, revenue, profitability, and cash flow.
- Create and update complex models to simulate various business scenarios (e.g., pricing strategies, market expansion).
- Perform sensitivity analysis to understand the impact of key variables on financial outcomes.
- Model sales targets, commissions, and incentive structures to assess their impact on the bottom line.
Sales Performance Analysis:
- Analyse historical sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, including variance analysis between forecasted and actual results.
- Work with the sales team to understand performance drivers and suggest actionable improvements.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts with a focus on revenue and sales-related costs.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure alignment of forecasts with business goals.
- Track actual performance against forecasts and provide detailed variance analysis.
Scenario Planning & Strategic Support:
- Partner with senior management to provide financial insights for strategic initiatives.
- Model "what-if" scenarios to assess the financial implications of different business strategies.
- Evaluate the financial viability of new sales projects and initiatives.
Reporting & Dashboards:
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards for key stakeholders, including sales, finance, and executive teams.
- Provide regular updates on key financial metrics and KPIs related to sales and revenue.
Data Management & Integration:
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all models and reports.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data from marketing, operations, and IT for a comprehensive financial view.
Ad-Hoc Analysis:
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis, particularly on new business opportunities or projects.
- Provide insights into the financial implications of sales strategies, pricing changes, and promotional activities.
Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, Power Query).
- Experience with financial modelling software (e.g. Hyperion, Anaplan, Power BI).
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
Business Skills:
- In-depth understanding of sales processes, pricing strategies, and revenue drivers.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to turn data into actionable business insights.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, finance, and operations teams.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Experience:
- Proven experience in financial modelling, ideally within a sales or revenue-driven environment.
- Ability to manage large data sets and complex financial models.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders to provide strategic financial recommendations.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to business changes.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Qualified by experience.
