We are excited to bring to market a fantastic new role in South Wales, our client is looking for a Head of Datacentre and Cloud to help drive the next phase of transformation across the organisation and wider partnerships.

This role is critical in the strategic vision of the overall Datacentre and Cloud functions including core and edge networking and the whole server estate. Leading a strong team enabling services across Technology including on-premises and cloud environments.

The role requires someone to take the lead on the long-term strategic vision, helping develop architectural set up, implementing cloud where appropriate with current set up as mostly on-premises.

You will be instrumental in looking at SAAS technologies, wireless technologies and the wider strategic technology vision whilst keeping a keen eye on budgets and future spend.

The Head of Datacentres and Cloud will:

  • Develop and implement key strategies for datacentres and cloud services.
  • Manage the delivery of these services in alignment with the organisation's goals.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the technology infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and best practice in the industry.
  • Effectively lead and mentor a diverse team.
  • Provide strong and effective management for budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation across the department.
  • Work closely with other department heads to align technology strategies with the organisation's goals.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the industry and leverage them to the organisation's benefit.

Key experience for the role include:

  • Leading day to day operational management of platforms / infrastructure in a medium to large enterprise, demonstrating technical leadership and experience in setting strategic direction
  • Proven experience in a team leadership role, successfully building, leading or developing a team of specialist IT/Digital professionals
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards achieving this level.

If you have any of the following skills we would love to hear more:

  • Formal leadership training at equivalent or greater to ILM Level 5
  • Relevant Cisco, Mitel, Microsoft, VMWare qualifications and/or training
  • Experience of leading, planning, prioritising and resourcing work activities at a strategic level
  • Technical experience of Public Cloud environments, Cloud Architecture / Design and DevOps ways of working
  • Naturally innovate ways of working and improve the use of resources
  • Ability to identify and rationalise interdependencies within a technically complex delivery environment. Identifying and translating the impact of incidents, problems or changes
