1:1 ALN Teaching Assistant - Primary School, Cardiff

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Cardiff. This role will involve providing tailored support to a pupil with ADHD and Autism. The position is due to last until the end of the academic year (July 2025), with the potential for further opportunities.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with ALN, ADHD, and Autism.

  • Assist in managing the pupil's behaviour and encourage positive engagement in learning activities.

  • Implement tailored strategies to help the pupil stay on task and achieve their learning objectives.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver individual learning plans.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

  • Record and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to the wider team.



Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting supporting pupils with ALN, ADHD, and Autism.

  • Strong understanding of Specific Learning Difficulties and strategies to support learning and behaviour.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service and registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) - or willingness to obtain both.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
