Teaching Assistant KS2 - Primary School in North Cardiff

Position: Teaching Assistant (KS2)
Location: North Cardiff Primary School
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (December Start - End of Academic Year)

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term opportunity in a warm, community-focused primary school in North Cardiff? We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team and work within a Key Stage 2 (KS2) class, starting in December. This role will be full-time until the end of the academic year, with potential for extension for the right candidate.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist in day-to-day teaching and learning activities, helping to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Behavior Management: Support pupils displaying challenging behavior, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to foster constructive learning.
  • Individual and Group Support: Provide both one-on-one assistance and small group support to students as directed by the class teacher.
  • Lesson Preparation and Supervision: Help prepare classroom resources, supervise students during activities, and ensure a safe learning environment.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 2, is essential. Experience with behavior management is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field is preferred, though practical experience will also be considered.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
    • Patient, understanding, and able to work under pressure
    • A genuine passion for supporting young learners and helping them achieve their potential
    • A proactive, flexible approach with a can-do attitude
