Role Overview: As a Secondary Teaching Assistant (Personal Care Support), you will work closely with teaching staff to provide support for students with a range of educational needs. This role will involve assisting students both academically and with personal care, ensuring they can fully participate in school activities and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic support in lessons under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, dressing and hygiene.
  • Support students with mobility challenges and help them access learning materials and activities.
  • Help students to develop social skills and participate in group activities.
  • Monitor and track student progress, contributing to their individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment, promoting the dignity and independence of students at all times.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills.

About You:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting / care setting
  • Experience or training in supporting with personal care needs.
  • Empathy, patience, and a caring nature.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to use initiative.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable.
