Job Title: Head of IT

Location: South Wales (2 days per week office-based)

Salary: £70,000 + Benefits + £5,500 car allowance

Job Type: 12 Month FTC

Note: This is a 12 month fixed term contract with no guarantees of extending. This role would suit a candidate that is immediately available, OR an IT contractor that would consider a FTC for 12 months.

The role

Reporting to the COO the Head of IT will lead the delivery of the organisation's technology portfolio, ensuring systems are innovative, secure, and aligned with organisational goals. You will oversee IT operations, suppliers, and policies management while building and nurturing a talented team (20) through 3 direct reports. Through your leadership, you'll ensure technology solutions support the transformation strategy, delivering value to everyone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate the IT team, ensuring strong collaboration and personal development.
  • Technical Expertise: Be a hands-on leader, guiding your team through technical challenges and offering direct support when needed. Manage a team to oversee IT infrastructure across multiple sites, ensuring reliability, scalability, and effective support for all locations.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control. Manage IT procurement processes, ensuring the best value for money.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring that the firm receives high-quality, cost-effective IT services.
  • Visionary IT Strategy: Develop and implement a forward-looking IT roadmap with rigid processes and KPIs aligning with business goals and preparing the company for future growth and technology advancements.
  • Digital Transformation: Lead the adoption of new technologies and work with the transformation team to improve efficiency, client service, and innovation.
  • Project Management: Lead IT projects from planning through to execution, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with company needs.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a Senior Leadership IT role

  • On the tools, technical awareness and experience (in Cloud, Security, Data and Governance).
  • Strong project management experience
