Person Specification
You are a self-motivated and skilled mechanical fitter with experience in using and maintaining a range of tools and equipment, such as hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels. You have a solid understanding of materials and assembly processes, enabling you to disassemble, install, and assemble machinery components effectively. Confident in reading technical drawings, you have a working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, along with basic skills in electrical installation and commissioning of equipment. Your knowledge of UK safety regulations and health and safety measures ensures that you work safely and efficiently. Surface protection skills are an advantage but optional.
Job Duties
- Conduct maintenance, disassembly, and assembly of MIV, turbine, and generator components.
- Use and maintain essential tools and equipment, including hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels.
- Identify mechanical failures and perform repairs to restore equipment functionality.
- Read and interpret manufacturing and assembly drawings to guide installations and repairs.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, and surface protection of machinery as needed.
- Support pneumatic and hydraulic system repairs and installations.
- Ensure compliance with UK safety regulations and site-specific health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- NVQ3 in manufacturing engineering / installation or equivalent.
- Proficiency in the use and maintenance of mechanical tools and devices.
- Familiarity with materials and auxiliary materials used in machine maintenance.
- Experience in reading technical drawings and assembly instructions.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, with basic skills in machine installation and electrical components.
- Understanding of UK safety regulations and health and safety measures.
- Suitable health and safety training, e.g., CSCS or similar, is required for all staff.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or within a team.
- Skills in surface protection techniques (optional).
