Litigation Solicitor - Welsh Local Authority

Location: South WalesContract Type: 3 months with view to extendRate: Negotiable DOE

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on litigation, regulatory prosecutions, governance, and public law.

  • Represent the Council in court, tribunals, hearings, and inquiries.

  • Conduct civil and criminal litigation, ensuring high-quality case preparation and advocacy.

  • Support judicial review proceedings and regulatory compliance matters.

  • Advise on education law, including school admission appeals and policy interpretation.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Council policies and governance structures.

  • Work collaboratively with senior legal officers and council stakeholders to deliver effective legal services.

About You
  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate.

  • Experience in criminal litigation and prosecutions, preferably in a local authority setting.

  • Knowledge of public law and local government procedures.

  • Strong advocacy and litigation skills with the ability to manage a diverse caseload.

  • Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
