Job Overview

A General Maintenance Repair person is required by our client and will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure that buildings, facilities, and equipment are in good working condition. The job typically involves a mix of routine and emergency maintenance, requiring a range of skills in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs. This is a general guideline and may be subject to changes based on the specific needs of the employer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance:
  • Perform regular inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and minor repairs.
  • Repairs:
  • Carry out repairs on electrical systems, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Fix structural damage, including doors, windows, walls, and flooring.
  • Repair and replace faulty or damaged components.
  • Emergency Maintenance:
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including risk assessments and safety checks.
  • Coordination:
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs or projects.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and tools.
  • Customer Service:
  • Interact professionally with building occupants and address their maintenance concerns.
  • Provide updates and reports to the Management team on the status of ongoing work.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:Relevant qualifications in maintenance-related fields (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds).
  • Experience:Proven experience in maintenance and repair work, ideally within a similar environment.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in a variety of maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Problem-Solving:Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Physical Stamina:Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environments.
  • Communication Skills:Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail:High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Driving License:A valid UK driving license

Working Conditions:

  • Environment:Work may be indoors or outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.
