Manpower is recruiting a Medical Secretary on behalf of our public client.

Location: Cardiff City Centre

Job Type: Full time

Contract: Temporary (minimum of 3 months)

Hours: Full time

Hourly rate: 11.44 per hour to 13.57 per hour

Start date: Immediate subject to references and DBS check (Manpower pays the cost of the DBS)

The role
To deliver high-quality, comprehensive secretarial support to a large team of local Consultant Medical Staff and ensure smooth communication between medical teams at the centre. Actively contribute to the planning and coordination of all reading and assessment clinics at the centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong communication with Consultant Radiologists, Surgeons, Clinicians, Radiography staff, and Senior Management.
  • Respond to queries regarding assessment recalls or hospital admissions, providing information within your authority.
  • Communicate with medical secretaries at local hospitals to arrange admissions and transfer treatment data for women referred for further treatment after screening.
  • Provide clear and sensitive explanations to women, families, and carers regarding the recall process, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Handle communications with external organizations such as couriers and conference venues.


Skills & Experience:

  • The ability to audio type and transcribe digital dictation.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and various IT packages (e.g., MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret histological reports and input accurate information into the systems database.
  • Excellent organisational skills to coordinate assessment clinics, manage appointments, and support multiple consultant teams.
  • Responsible for maintaining patient records and ensuring correct documentation in case notes.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate clinic assessments, manage appointment schedules, and support consultant teams in delivering patient care.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of clinic attendance and contribute to quality performance reporting.
  • Prepare cases and take minutes for weekly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings, ensuring all documentation is accurate.
