Duration:        2 months – with possible extension

Hours:             15 hours (must be able to work Mondays and Tuesdays between 1630 and 1900)

 

Our client, one of the UK’s leading Children’s Charities, is looking for a Child and Young Person’s Worker to join their Young Person’s Well Being and Engagement Team in South Wales.

 

The team forms part of a dynamic national programme which, following extensive consultation with local young people, has develop and deliver well-being, and access to food services that are truly young person focused.

 

You will be devising and delivering well-being workshops and sessions in a secondary school in Cardiff. The charity has a wealth of material you can use/ draw upon and they encourage you to also work creatively and using your own autonomy and initiative.

 

You will be carrying out regular consultations with the children/ young people to identify what they would like the sessions to focus on and then devising a programme accordingly. Topics have recently included fake news, what to do if you feel anxiety, bullying, friendships, racism, street safety, and grooming. The sessions are creative, fun and engaging.

 

The second part of the role will be as part of their “Access to Food” service and will involve running food, nutrition and cooking groups for young people. This will include planning a meal/ recipe, discussing healthy eating, nutritional value, budgeting and teaching them basic living skills.

 

This is a fantastic role where you will be able to work flexibly and creatively with young people.

 

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Proven track record working with children and young people (ideally aged 10 – 18)
  • Ability to engage and listen to children to shape the service to fit their needs
  • Background in Youth Work, Children and Family related services, Residential Services and/ or linked Services would be great
  • Need to drive, have access to a car and how a current enhanced DBS.
