We’re excited to be recruiting a Payroll Assistant on behalf of a well-established organization based in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to contribute to a dynamic team, ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll for employees across various locations.The Role In this position, you’ll be responsible for supporting all aspects of payroll processing. You’ll ensure compliance with regulations, meet strict deadlines, and handle key tasks such as:
  • Reviewing and verifying employee starter, leaver, and change documentation.
  • Inputting and processing weekly and monthly hours submitted by branches.
  • Administering statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, SPP, and SAP.
  • Processing tax forms, including P45s and P46s, and reconciling HMRC updates for tax codes and student loans.
  • Preparing financial documents like benefit forms and mortgage references.
  • Reviewing trial payroll runs, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring corrections are made promptly.
  • Managing deductions, including attachment of earnings orders and voluntary contributions.
  • Responding to payroll queries from internal teams and external contacts.
  • Generating reports for other departments using Excel.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in a payroll function, with knowledge of end-to-end processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Confident communication skills to handle queries and liaise with teams across the business.
