Compliance Officer / File Checker Role Overview:

As a Compliance Officer / File Checker, you will play a key role in reviewing and verifying mortgage files to ensure they meet all compliance standards. You will work closely with the legal, underwriting, and risk teams to safeguard the company’s regulatory obligations and reduce the risk of non-compliance.

Compliance Officer / File Checker Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of mortgage applications, ensuring that all necessary documentation and checks are in place.
  • Ensure that files comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
  • Identify any potential compliance issues or areas of risk, providing clear and effective reports.
  • Work closely with internal departments to resolve any compliance issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mortgage regulations and industry changes.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance-related issues when necessary.

Compliance Officer / File Checker Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a compliance, auditing, or file checking role within the mortgage or financial services industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage regulations and industry standards (e.g., FCA, MCOB, TCF).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of mortgage systems and software is a plus.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CeMAP, ICA) are advantageous.
