Qualified Teaching Assistant - Long-Term Maternity Cover in Cardiff

We are looking for a dedicated and qualified Teaching Assistant for a long-term role in a primary school located in West Cardiff. This position, covering a maternity leave, is expected to begin in December and continue until the end of the academic year (July 2025). The school is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant who can seamlessly integrate into their team and provide strong support within a KS2 class, although experience in any primary setting is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the class teacher with daily lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Support individual and group learning activities, especially in literacy and numeracy
  • Help maintain an organized, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Foster positive behavior and promote social skills development among students
  • Provide 1-1 support where needed, adapting to the unique needs of each student
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and document observations to inform instruction
  • Prepare resources and materials for lessons as directed by the class teacher
  • Engage in playground supervision and ensure a safe and supportive environment during breaks
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teaching Assistant with experience working in a primary school setting
  • Ideally has experience in a KS2 class, though all primary experience will be considered
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check and be registered with the EWC
  • Reliable, adaptable, and dedicated to supporting students' educational journey
