What you'll be doing as the Buyer
You'll be part of a collaborative team working to deliver exceptional procurement solutions. This is your opportunity to make a real impact by driving efficiency, building supplier relationships, and optimising supply chain performance; responsibilities include: -
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure high-quality and timely deliveries at competitive prices.
- Order Fulfilment: Track and expedite orders to meet production schedules, resolving any potential challenges.
- Inventory Optimisation: Review stock levels regularly, working with stakeholders to reduce excess inventory and streamline the supply chain.
- Material Procurement: Use the MRP system to manage purchase orders, minimise stockouts, and optimise inventory levels.
- Demand Planning: Collaborate with production and planning teams to accurately forecast material requirements, balancing lead times with production volumes.
- Improvement Projects: Identify and lead purchasing improvement initiatives to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve supplier performance.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Analyse procurement data to identify trends, opportunities for savings, and areas for improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with production, warehouse, quality assurance, and engineering teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to policies, regulatory requirements, and prepare insightful reports on procurement activities and supplier performance.
To apply for the Buyer position, you will need: -
- Experience as a buyer or similar gained in a manufacturing environment
- Good knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Proven supplier negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in approaching new suppliers for quotations.
- Strong MS Excel skills
In return, you'll receive
A salary of up to £40,000 depending on experience, a pension contribution of up to 7.5%, 25 holidays, plus the bank holidays.
You're working hours
The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8 am - 4.30 pm, and 8 am - 1.30 pm on Fridays.
