We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Buyer to join our retail department. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality apparel, liaising with suppliers, and maintaining positive relationships.

Our client is a large organisation in the retail industry, based in Cardiff. They have a significant presence across the UK, with a reputation for providing high-quality products and excellent customer service.

Description

  • Plan and buildsa commercially balanced range, whilst achieving margin targets as set by company.
  • Drive regular departmental product reviews, ensuring coordination across departments regarding trends, looks and colour palettes.
  • Deep understanding of fabrics, garment constructions and the whole buying process with a strong eye for prints.
  • Works collaboratively with the merchandising team to monitor and control trade, in order to ensure stock turn, margin targets and profit levels are achieved.
  • Operate an effective and timely product sign off process, in line with the critical path and planning cycle.
  • Leading ladieswear in driving trend-led collections with the right level of newness/fashion/trend.
  • Take responsibility for maximising profit on the department through strong negotiation and development of global supplier relations.
  • Trade the department and analyse the relevance of new and emerging trends for the brand and plan accordingly.
  • Identify and source new products and suppliers, negotiate contracts and pricing.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with company standards.
  • Analyse market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Collaborate with the retail team to determine stocking needs.
  • Handle any supply issues promptly and professionally.

Profile

  • A successful Senior Buyer should have:
  • Proven experience in a buying role within fast-fashion preferably printed womenswear.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
  • Proven track record of developing and trading highly commercial fashion ranges that exceed sales/ profit targets
  • Deep understanding of fabrics, garment construction and the whole buying process with a strong print eye.
  • A passion for trends, who excels in driving newness in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced in negotiating with suppliers to secure the best value, cost prices, and lead times.
  • A good understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgement.
  • Ability to work well in a team and to make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
