Job Opportunity: Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor for our client. The role offers the flexibility to work on one of two dynamic opportunities:

  1. Two-Stage Tender for a £100m New Build Project, focusing on pre-construction planning and cost management.
  2. Site-Based Role on a £20m Refurbishment in Cardiff Bay, overseeing the financial aspects of the project throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • For the £100m Two-Stage Tender:

    • Manage all commercial aspects of the tender process.
    • Prepare detailed cost plans, bills of quantities, and budget forecasts.
    • Liaise with design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost reporting.
    • Provide strategic input into value engineering, procurement, and risk management.
    • Ensure compliance with contract conditions, reviewing tender documentation and preparing final submissions.
  • For the £20m Refurbishment:

    • Oversee all financial aspects of the project from start to finish, including procurement and cost control.
    • Prepare and agree valuations, manage variations, and handle final accounts.
    • Ensure the project stays within budget, monitoring cash flow and financial forecasting.
    • Engage with the site team and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
    • Regularly report to senior management on project progress and financial performance.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in both tendering and site-based roles.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT and NEC forms.
  • Excellent cost planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., RICS accredited degree or equivalent).
