Laboratory Technician

Cardiff

£25,500 per annum

Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm Friday 8am to 2pm

 

The Laboratory Technician role is a generalist Laboratory role, conducting day to day testing and monitoring of the chemical production environment as per the testing schedules. Working with the team, the Laboratory Technician will perform the day to day testing and monitoring of samples; escalating issues and concerns as per the escalation process. Following the agreed testing guidelines as set out within departmental policy, procedures and operational practices, the laboratory technician is responsible to monitor and communicate results from testing in order that technical issues can be prevented and that the environment can be closely monitored to address issues in a timely manner.

 

The role –

  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual testing as per the laboratory testing schedule
  • Communicate test fails and escalate issues as per the escalation process.
  • Make chemical additions to, and discards from, process solutions in a safe manner as per H&S instructions and procedures.
  • Work proactively to support production and inspection making recommendations and suggestions to address test fails in order to close technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Supporting quality and production during internal and external audits.
  • To look after laboratory equipment maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and testing sterility.
  • To order and maintain stock and resources.
  • To perform other duties as may be assigned by the line manager or as per the requirements of the business.

  • Ability to work in an industrial laboratory environment
  • Ability to track and record data using relevant software and systems
  • Can manage timing to prioritise important deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to follow and work within laboratory processes and procedures
