Service Manager Cardiff 

 

Our client based in Cardiff (CF11) is looking for a Service Manager to help them assist with the efficient and compliant fleet maintenance for a large fleet of vehicles. 

 

Contract type: Ongoing contract 

Salary: £19.81 PAYE 

Shift pattern: 37 hours week (Apply online only) Monday to Friday may need flexibility for weekend work 

Experience required: Previous experience at Service Manager or in a similar role, experience managing a large fleet of vehicles, Management experience, Experience of providing high standards of vehicle maintenance. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties (including by not limited to):

 

• Manage the delivery, resourcing, and performance of an effective service centre in line with statutory requirements.

• Ensure maintenance services meets objectives and quality targets/objectives.

• Develop, sustain, improve, and maintain performance. 

• Ensure compliance with all required legislation, transport regulations.

• Strict adherence to company policies and procedures

• Ensure all work by workshop staff is captured within the internal system efficiently, accurately to provide necessary financial information. 

• Maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies where applicable 

• Supervision of sickness absence, leave, personal reviews, in line with company policies and procedures. 

• Undertake quality assurance of all activities to improve performance within the workshop. 

• Monitor Health and Safety compliance within the workshops. 

• Financial control of all budgets through regular review and monitoring, and maximising external and internal income streams. 

• Manage internal procurement processes, stores, and vehicle parts.

• Develop strong partnerships with new and existing clients.

• Seek out opportunities, both internal and external, developing a strategy to increase potential business.

• Liaise with external contractors/repairers/suppliers as required.

• To assist with the prompt completion of month end functions and the end of year financial procedures.

 

Qualification and Skills required: 

 

• City and Guilds motor repair LGV or Light commercial vehicles L3 or above (Essential)

• Valid Driving License (Essential)

• HGV C or C+E, CPC and Digital Tachograph (Desirable) 

• IOSH / NEBOSH (desirable) 

• Transport Management CPC Certificate of Professional Competence (Desirable) 

• Previous experience managing a busy workshop (Essential)

• Managing Teams (Essential) 

• Experience of fleet management system (Essential) 

• Leading, Managing and monitoring challenging targets (Essential) 

• Ability to deal with customer complaints (Essential) 

• Experience in processing orders and invoices (Essential)

• Ability to prepare financial and performance reports (Essential)

• Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Packages (Essential) 

• Access to own vehicle (Desirable)
