We are assisting a Local Authority in the appointment of an experienced Social Work Assistant to join their Childrens Social Work Team in Cardiff!

As a Social Work Assistant you will be expected to work within a supportive team (Locality) who, with the support of the Principle Social Worker an Team Manager will assist in the delivery of services and be responsible for case allocation of a small caseload where necessary.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • To review and update knowledge policy and procedural frameworks and provide intervention in accordance with these.
  • Work with children, families, carer groups and communities to help them make informed change.
  • Assist users to enhance their independence and coping skills.
  • Be aware of risks in relation to child protection and protection of vulnerable adults and report these appropriately as required.
  • Implement support for individuals as previously assessed to meet their immediate needs.
  • To be aware of carers and request carer assessments as required.
  • Prepare for and participate in decision-making forums.
  • Manage and prioritise the workload, carry out duties using accountable considered judgement.
  • Feedback to the allocated case holder to inform ongoing assessment.

To be a successful candidate for this role you must have the following:

  • Experience of direct work with Children.
  • Full UK Drivers License.
