Yard Worker

The Yard Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency of the workshop yard. The Yard Person will assist with vehicle and equipment movement, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring safety and orderliness within the yard.

Key Responsibilities:

Yard Maintenance & Organisation:

• Keep the yard clean, organised, and free from obstructions
• Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are stored correctly and safely
• Dispose of waste materials properly, following environmental guidelines

Vehicle & Equipment Handling:

• Assist in parking, positioning, and moving vehicles or machinery within the yard
• Ensure vehicles and machinery are placed in designated areas for servicing or dispatch
• Conduct basic checks on vehicles and equipment before movement

Loading & Unloading:

• Assist with loading and unloading spare parts, tools, and heavy equipment
• Ensure proper handling of materials to prevent damage or injury
• Use lifting equipment or assist operators when necessary

Workshop & Store Support:

• Assist mechanics and store personnel with retrieving or storing tools and parts
• Transport materials and equipment between different sections of the yard or workshop
• Help maintain an efficient workflow by ensuring easy access to required items

Health, Safety & Security:

• Follow all company safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE
• Ensure a safe working environment by reporting hazards or unsafe practices
• Secure tools, equipment, and yard assets to prevent theft or loss.

General Assistance:

• Support the workshop team with general tasks as needed
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as cleaning vehicles or equipment
• Assist with fire prevention measures, such as keeping fire exits and equipment clear

Job Types:

• Full-time, Permanent

Pay:

• £23,795. per year
