We are actively recruiting for individuals to join our team here at Vision for Education Cardiff who have an interest in supporting ALN children in the classroom environment.

The role would involve supporting children with a variety of additional learning needs (ALN) and those who display challenging behaviour. The 3-19 school are looking for you to support these pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, so you will really have the opportunity to make a positive impact on these pupils lives.

The role

-          The position is located in a 3-19 special needs school so you would have the option of supporting primary and secondary aged children with ALN

-          As part of the teaching assistant role you would be supporting pupils in the classroom environment to meet their daily learning objectives

-          You will be responsible for building excellent relationships with pupils and be a positive role model 

-          The role will require you to identify triggers and de-escalate any behaviours before they arise

-          Work on a 1:1 and small group basis to help pupils meet daily learning objectives

-          Follow the direction of the class teacher, assisting where needed

-          Utilise your skills and knowledge as a graduate to provide the best learning experience

-          Think creatively and help contribute ideas to further improve teaching and learning

The ideal candidate will:

-          Hold a level 2/3 in Childcare or Health & Social Care qualification or higher, but this is not essential

-          Have strong behaviour management skills

-          Have experience in SEN / ALN (personal or professional) 

-          Be open to additional training - Team Teach or Manual Handling

-          Have strong communication skills

-          Have a passion for helping others
