Experienced Boat Operator (Marine Inspections)

Location: Clyde River, Scotland
Employment Type: Full-Time (Permanent or Agency)
Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Boat Operator to join their team, operating a vessel to support full-time marine inspections. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the boat in and around jetty structures, enabling thorough inspections of our ongoing marine works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the company’s boat to facilitate ongoing marine inspections.
  • Navigate safely in challenging environments, particularly around jetty structures and other marine infrastructure.
  • Work closely with the inspection team to ensure they have safe and reliable access to all areas requiring inspection.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and operational readiness at all times.
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on the vessel, ensuring it remains in optimal working condition.
  • Adhere to all maritime regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively using VHF radio and other marine communication tools.
  • Provide assistance in emergency situations, utilizing first aid and safety training as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 (minimum) with RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate preferred.
  • RYA Commercial Endorsement is highly desirable.
  • MCA Boatmaster’s Licence or equivalent certification.
  • STCW Basic Safety Training including Proficiency in Security Awareness.
  • Significant experience operating boats in confined or complex environments, particularly around jetties and marine structures.
  • Knowledge of marine inspection procedures is an advantage.
  • VHF Radio License required.
  • First Aid Certification is desirable.
  • Must be a UK National and hold, or be able to obtain, UK Security Clearance.
