Riverside Recruitment are delighted to be working with our client, a large manufacturing site in Carlisle, who require an Assistant Accountant to join their team.

As a key member supporting the Site Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in driving financial performance and ensuring flawless execution of the finance operations. Reporting to the Regional Finance Manager within Supply Chain Finance, you will have the chance to work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the preparation of quarterly forecasts, budgets, and performance reporting.

Job Requirements:

  • Ensure that decisions, plans, and strategies are formulated on a sound commercial and financial basis.
  • Review and report performance against agreed budgets & forecasts, and develop action plans to meet objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and group accounting procedures, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Act as a business partner to site cost centre managers, supporting them in managing overheads.
  • Complete the sites budget and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Take ownership of standard product costing, providing financial support for the development of new products.
  • Support and liaise with project leads regarding capital reporting and forecasting.
  • Conduct site prime and overhead performance analysis and period-end reporting.
  • Maintain robust financial control by managing the site asset register and ensuring timely capitalisation, disposal, and asset verification.
  • Conduct periodic balance sheet reconciliation reviews.
  • Supervise and support the offshore team, providing development training and acting as the first point of contact.
  • Report into the regional finance manager and leadership team.


Experience Required
  • CIMA, ACA, or ACCA Qualified or progressing towards completing qualification.
  • Consideration will be given to those individualswho can demonstrate being Qualified by Experience
  • Strong Excel and SAP skills.
  • Experience in making complex financial analysis easily understood in the FMCG/manufacturing background.
  • Costing experience in the FMCG/manufacturing arena.
  • Experience in financial reporting and control in another organisation.
  • Proven track record of providing robust and insightful financial analysis, planning, and forecasting.
  • Experience in financial analysis, modelling, and investment appraisal techniques.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to build successful working relationships cross-functionally.
  • Desire to challenge the status quo.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
