We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant for this newly created role, offering an excellent variety of responsibilities, insight and personal development.

Our client is a well established, growing, medium sized business, looking to appoint an additional team member to their finance team taking it from 6 to 7. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to enhance their expertise around month end accounting processes.

In addition, the successful appointee will have the opportunity to support the senior leadership team with providing financial information & KPI reports, and be involved in side projects around improvements, efficiencies and potentially supporting the FC with an up and coming accounting system implementation, if desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weekly reconciliation of the fixed asset register, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly management accounts for 5 business units.
  • Weekly Sales ledger invoice processing
  • Daily banking requirements and reconciliations
  • Maintain the 13-week cash flow forecast and deliver analyses to the Senior Leadership Team, using Excel
  • Update vehicle costings with daily mileage data.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Provide KPI data as needed
  • Support credit control processes as required
  • Assist in year-end audit preparations and schedules.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated experience working in an accounting department.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A proactive approach to identifying more efficient work practices while adhering to company processes.
