Carlisle MENCAP is a registered charity supporting adults and children with learning disabilities. One of the largest MENCAPs in the country, we campaign, advocate, and deliver a range of services. These include children and adults’ respite, outreach services, supported living for adults, holidays and social clubs, family support, advice and information. We employ over 100 staff, and last year our income was just under £3.2m.
We seek an outstanding enthusiastic leader who can inspire, motivate and develop our staff and volunteers. The person chosen will be a strong communicator, a leader who encourages inclusiveness and drives change and improvement. They will have a particular commitment to ensuring that the voices of people with learning disabilities, and their families and carers, are heard clearly both within the organisation and beyond.
The candidate selected will be able to demonstrate a strong, successful career more recently in a senior leadership role. With strong organisational, business planning, financial management and communications skills, they will work with trustees, staff, volunteers, service users and commissioners to drive the organisation forward, delivering high quality services and financial stability. They will lead our organisation and shape our strategy which has seen substantial growth and change over the last 3 years. Â
Entrepreneurial, they will identify new opportunities and lead the development of new services.Â
They will represent the organisation locally and nationally, leading campaigns, and advocating for, and supporting, people who can often be amongst the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in society.
