Job Title: Personal Advisor - Children Care Team

About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young people as they transition from care to independence? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Advisor to join our dynamic Children Care Team based in Carlisle. In this vital role, you will work closely with young people aged 16-25, providing advice, guidance, and practical support as they navigate the challenges of adulthood.
As a Personal Advisor, you will play a key role in helping care leavers achieve their goals, promoting their well-being, and empowering them to live independent, fulfilling lives. Your support will be crucial in areas such as education, employment, housing, and life skills development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with care leavers, offering advice and emotional support.
- Work collaboratively with young people to create and review Pathway Plans, outlining their goals and the steps needed to achieve them.
- Provide guidance on education, employment, training opportunities, and securing accommodation.
- Help care leavers access health services, benefits, and financial advice.
- Advocate on behalf of young people, ensuring they receive the support and services they are entitled to.
- Liaise with social workers, foster carers, housing providers, and other professionals involved in the care leaver's lives.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all statutory duties are met in line with current legislation.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children and young people, ideally within a care or support setting.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers and a commitment to advocating for their rights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with young people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies surrounding children in care and leaving care services.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
