An advanced practitioner in a MASH team (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) plays a critical role in safeguarding vulnerable children and adults by working collaboratively across various agencies, such as social services, health, police, education, and other relevant organisations. The role involves complex decision-making, risk assessments, and ensuring effective interventions. Here are the key duties for an advanced practitioner in a MASH team:

  • Review and assess incoming safeguarding referrals to identify the level of risk and the need for intervention.
  • Triage referrals based on urgency, ensuring high-risk cases are prioritised for immediate action.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to gather relevant information for a comprehensive assessment of the individual's circumstances and risks.
  • Use evidence-based tools and professional judgement to evaluate the level of risk to children or adults and make recommendations for actions.
  • Lead or contribute to multi-agency discussions on cases, ensuring appropriate decisions are made regarding safeguarding interventions and referrals.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance to junior staff, colleagues, and partner agencies on complex safeguarding issues.
  • Act as a liaison between multiple agencies, ensuring information sharing, and facilitating joint decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with the police, health professionals, and education services to ensure coordinated responses to safeguarding concerns.
  • Chair and lead strategy meetings, case discussions, and other professional forums related to safeguarding
