This includes all non-production (development, testing, preproduction, DR etc) and production environments.

The role ensures that these environments are stable, secure, and meet the needs of various stakeholders. You’ll oversee the configuration, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of systems while ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.

Initially, you’ll lead the setup, and oversee the continued delivery, of an environments management capability within our large-scale transformation programme. You’ll play a pivotal part in establishing and implementing the environments management process from the ground up, ensuring seamless coordination across internal teams as well as with 3rd party Technology and Delivery partners.

Over time, following the implementation of our transformation programme, you’ll be responsible for the management of Environments within our IT Estate, overseeing all activity across the BAU IT Service and Change portfolios.

The Role

Oversee the management of multiple IT environments (development, testing, staging, and production), ensuring their availability and performance.

This includes responsibilities such as:

About you

Experience, knowledge and qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing complex IT environments, including development, staging, and production systems.
  • Proven experience of overseeing the management of an IT Estate as part of a large-scale IT transformation programme.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud environments (Azure), virtualisation, and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and experience with compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in real-time.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline implementation and management.
  • Familiarity with ITIL principles and practices, particularly around incident, problem, and change management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be able to demonstrate evidence of delivering successful target operating model improvements.
  • Adept at using relevant software tools and platforms for asset management, knowledge base management, project management, and more.
