Join a high-performing Accountancy Team at a pivotal time of growth and transition. REED Accountancy are seeking a Payroll Officer to oversee and enhance payroll operations for our clients group, which employs approximately 350 staff across the North of England. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and implement new payroll systems and procedures, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Process payroll for the Group companies on a monthly basis, addressing any associated queries.
  • Ensure accurate processing of month-end payroll journals and year-end processes.
  • Manage all third-party remittances, payments, and procedures.
  • Handle payroll-related changes including starters, leavers, and amendments.
  • Stay updated with legislative changes and ensure they are effectively implemented within the Group.
  • Implement internal controls and continuously seek improvements in payroll processes.
  • Review current procedures and recommend strategies to enhance effectiveness.
  • Lead various project tasks, both legacy and new, focusing on data analysis and business partnering.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders on various projects and tasks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to manage and process end-to-end payroll.
  • Detail-oriented and professional, capable of working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office packages.
  • Good commercial acumen with confidence in influencing senior stakeholders.
  • CIPP qualification is desirable but not essential.
