Role: IT Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Carlisle / Remote - 2 days onsite / 3 days' work from home

Rate: £250 - £300 per day 

Duration: 6 - 12 months

Requirements: 

  • Plan, design, and implement on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, and network systems.
  • Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers, including operating systems (Windows, Linux), services like Azure, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP along with Cisco UCS and VMware.
  • Perform regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades to infrastructure components, ensuring they are secure, optimized, and up to date with the latest technologies.
  • Ensure infrastructure security by applying best practices, implementing firewalls, antivirus solutions, and patch management, and adhering to compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and trusted 3rd party providers to assess infrastructure requirements and provide scalable solutions.
  • Use monitoring tools to assess system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement measures to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans to ensure data protection and rapid recovery in case of system failure.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and upgrades to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and best practices for reference and training purposes.
  • Good understanding of WAN, SDWAN, FortiGate Firewall/Manager/Analyzer, Wireless Networks (planning/support).
