We are currently looking for a Transport Planner to join our General Haulage team, based at our Longtown depot.

In this role, you will be responsible for the planning of all General Haulage vehicle movements, working alongside other Transport Planners and reporting to the Planning Manager. You will efficiently schedule daily planning activity, ensuring the most efficient use of vehicles and drivers during collections and deliveries whilst taking account of WTR and Drivers Hours Rules, vehicle weights and dimensions and the Road Traffic Act. All related information must be accurately recorded onto company and other IT systems. You will handle real time communications with our drivers, solving or escalating issues as appropriate where they occur.

To be successful in this role you will be a people person and a real team player. Previous Transport planning experience and knowledge of the haulage industry would be advantageous but just as importantly, you will be an effective communicator and able to stay calm under pressure, thriving in a busy and fast-paced environment. A strong and experienced planner, proficient in the use of all Microsoft programs, you are organised, proactive and have excellent attention to detail.

The role will be worked on a rolling shift pattern of 4 days on 4 days off, 12 hours per day with a 45-minute unpaid break.
