Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Band 7 Critical Care Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team. The postholder will provide specialist dietetic care to critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICU) and high-dependency units (HDU), ensuring optimal nutritional support to enhance recovery and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert nutritional assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for critically ill patients, including those requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including intensivists, nurses, pharmacists, and speech and language therapists, to provide holistic patient care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition support plans for patients with complex needs such as sepsis, trauma, organ failure, and major surgery.
  • Manage parenteral nutrition (PN) prescribing and adjustments in collaboration with the pharmacy team.
  • Support the weaning process from artificial nutrition to oral intake where appropriate.
  • Provide specialist dietetic advice in complex cases, including those with multi-organ dysfunction, ventilator dependency, and post-ICU syndrome.
