We are recruiting for experienced and confident support workers to pick up regular work in a semi secure unit/ Childrens home dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for young people in need of care and protection. We are looking for candidates that are committed to fostering positive growth, offering guidance, and supporting vulnerable individuals on their journey. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Role Overview:

As a Support Worker in a childrens home environment, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the emotional, social, and developmental needs of young people aged 8yrs -18yrs.

You will work within a structured environment where safety and well-being are the top priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to young people, helping them develop coping skills, confidence, and resilience.
  • Assist in the day-to-day support of young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Support young people in managing their behaviour, encouraging positive choices and personal development.
  • Help with activities, including education, vocational training, and therapeutic sessions, to promote skill-building.
  • Maintain a safe and structured environment, adhering to policies and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with the young people in your care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on each individual's progress, incidents, and care plans.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards this qualification.
    • Previous experience working with young people in a care or secure setting is advantageous.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
    • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
    • Social care Wales registered
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in working with young people who have challenging behaviour or who have experienced trauma.
    • First Aid and/or Behaviour Management training.
    • Full UK driver's license and/or happy and able to commute via public transport to the Carmarthen area of West Wales.
